The Five Things I Love Most About Coachella

Coachella is fast upon us and I am ridiculously excited. This year will be my fourth (and most likely last) time attending! The excitement surrounding Coachella is an 11 month process. In May, people have the option to score a ticket during pre-sale. Even though it is risky since you don’t know the line-up when you are buying, I definitely think it’s worth it. The best part of pre-sale is the payment plan option. After that comes months of line-up rumors and the anticipation steadily grows until finally, in January, the line-up is announced.

This year’s line-up is my favorite of the past four years. A lot of my excitement is due to the fact that I will be sharing this year’s experience with my boyfriend. The build up is what makes Coachella so fun in my opinion. I’ve done a post on my Coachella essentials, and I now want to share what I love most about it (in no particular order, of course.)

1. The sunsets
The best part of being in a desert for four days are the sunsets. Every night the sky is painted so beautifully and the wide open Indio sky grants you the best views. I love the feeling of watching a band play with the gorgeous sun setting in the background.

2. The performances
There is no doubt that performers go all out for their Coachella performances, especially the headliners. There have been a few that have stayed glued in my mind, – Hologram Tupac, anyone? – and Kanye West’s 2011 headlining performance was one of them. Say what you want about Kanye, but the man surely delivers.

3. The art
Each year, Coachella picks selected artists to display their work around the grounds. This is always fun to check out and never ceases to amaze me.

4. Camping
Yes, you get dirty. Yes, you’re constantly tired from all of the noise around you and the 6 A.M wake up calls courtesy of the rising scorching hot sun. Yes, you will say ‘Next year, we’re getting a hotel!’, but every year, you will camp. I can’t imagine experiencing Coachella without camping. It’s hard to put into words why I think camping is a crucial part of the Coachella experience, but there’s something about being surrounded by all your friends sun up to sun down.

5. The spirit
Coachella is magical. It’s almost impossible to feel anything but happy. The spirits are high, the music is good, and there is just something in the air that feeds your soul.

I’m really hoping to go this year! Since it’s sold out I’m debating between getting a craigslist ticket but my friend is asking around to see if his regular crew has any extras. I’ve never been but I really really want to go, and I’ll be camping!
